When it comes to an unbridled penchant for brutally honest lyrics and bare bones beats, we can call vocalist and songwriter Irvin Scabtree “Master”, or at least that’s the title of one of their most downloaded tracks on itunes. Along with guitarist Pressit, the two released an epic 12 song debut record in 2006. Pressit’s chunky guitar riffs complemented Scabtree’s predilection for the electronic. Together at only the age of 17 they released Take Me, Break Me, Make Me Pretty; a monstrous electro record that gained the attention of the music industry.
In 2008 Raggedy Angry added drummer “The Pull-Out Method,” lead guitarist “Uncle Daddy,” and bassist “C-Man.” The band’s new sound took on a more aggressive feel while maintaing a nerdy electronic sound. The new outfit caught the interest of famed producer Dave Ogilvie (NIN, Marilyn Manson, The Birthday Massacre,) who was a perfect match for the band. After two long months in the studio, the band completed their highly anticipated second record “Pestilence.” The band hired cartoonist, illustrator and comic book creator, Jamie Smart (www.fumboo.com) to draw and design the 10 page artwork.
The band plans to release several remixes from the record and to have them serviced to commercial radio, DJ’s and clubs. They will also be featured in upcoming issues of Gothic Beauty and several other “Gothic”- style magazines as part of a new sponsorship the band has forged with Toronto fashion designers, Plastikwrap.
One thing most people realize about this band is that there is no lack of ambition. With catchy riffs, a bold new sound, and a dedicated support team who have a burning desire to see them reach international status, Raggedy Angry will stop at nothing to gain world-wide recognition...
